Couples / Family / Individual Therapy

In many cases couples come to see me when they are already experiencing a number of major difficulties in their relationship. In other situations, one of the partners recognizes a developing rift or is concerned about his or her partner's changed behavior.

I work with couples as I do individuals and families. I take a structured yet eclectic approach. We develop a plan together that includes the couple's particular therapy goals and the desired length of treatment.

Partners frequently think that their significant other will change and can be changed and are troubled and then angry when this does not happen. Unrealistic or unmet expectations create disappointment and dissatisfaction.

In most cases, learning more about communication can be the key, since this is  where the problems often lie.
